Rebecca Hitchens of Laurel, passed away on Nov. 15, 2020 at TidalHealth Nanticoke in Seaford. Born in Galestown, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Eskridge and Elizabeth Bounds Eskridge. Rebecca retired from DuPont with many years of service. After retirement, she became the manager of Hess Apparel in Salisbury, and later she continued her career in retail, working for the Phillips Men’s Shop in Laurel. She enjoyed attending Epworth Fellowship Church years ago.
Rebecca is survived by her brothers; David Eskridge of Seaford, and William Eskridge of Seaford. Several nieces and nephews also survive her. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband William E. Hitchens, her brother, Danny Eskridge, her sister, Rosalee Gustin, and her niece Jill Hickman.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 24 at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel. Pastor Barry Dukes officiated. Arrangements are in the care of the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home in Laurel.
