Phillip Lynn Moore of Laurel passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Nov. 7, 1945 in Delmar, Md., as one of 10 sons to the late Charles W. Moore and Mary Katherine (Collins) Moore.

Phil retired in 2005 after 30 years of service with the railroad as a machinist. He was a steadfast and loyal employee as the company transitioned through Penn Central, Conrail, and finally Norfolk Southern. Within the railroad community, Phil had a reputation of being one of the best machinists, who could fabricate or fix anything. When not working on the railroad, he loved to tinker with lawnmowers and always had a project to keep his hands busy. He will be remembered as a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

He is survived by his wife of over 57 years, Grace Elizabeth (Bayly) Moore; son, Phillip Lynn Moore, II and wife, Tina of Seaford; daughter, Christy Lynn Ryan and husband, Tom of Delmar; grandchildren, Phillip Lynn Moore, III and wife, Meagan, Kasey Maria Moore, Brittni Ryan and Brooke Ryan; great-granddaughter, Hayven Rae, with the arrival of Natalie Grace Moore joyfully anticipated by Phil and family this coming March; and brothers, Ronnie Moore and wife, Jo Ann, Rick Moore and wife, Dee, Kenny Moore and wife, Pat and Michael Moore. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as several close friends and kind neighbors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jackie, Bobby, Jerry, Billy and C.T.

A visitation for family and friends was held on Monday, Sept. 27 at Short Funeral Home in Delmar, followed by a funeral service. Pastor Tom Bunting officiated. Interment followed at St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Delmar.
