Patricia Rosalie Hastings of Rock Hall, Md. passed away at Golden Rule Assisted Living on Feb. 1, 2024.
Pat was born in Chestertown on Dec. 4, 1949, the daughter of the late Andrew John Powhida, Sr. and Amy Higgins Powhida. After graduating from Rock Hall High School with the class of 1968, she worked for the Walt Voelker Insurance Company and was later employed by Southern States in both Chestertown and the Milford location as an administrative assistant and bookkeeper. She was known for her dedication and thoroughness in her work until her retirement in 2017. Pat was married to Jackie Luike for seven years and was later married to Donald Fisher Hastings for 25 years until his death in 2010.
Pat volunteered at the Kent and Queen Anne’s Hospital gift shop as well as the Nearly New Shop. She was a member of both Raum Chapel and the Cannon Mennonite Church. She enjoyed going to yard sales, bowling, collecting Longaberger baskets, and had a great love for her pet cats.
She is survived by her sisters: Jean E. Spence, Rebecca L. Glenn, Karen P. May, and Faye Robinson; brother, Andrew John Powhida; brothers-in-law, Joseph May and Robert Glenn; a special niece, Debbie Spence; and a special great niece, Cameron Spence; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 1 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Rd., Chestertown, MD 21620, where friends and family may call from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Interment will be held in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
