Norris T. (Nip) Hudson of Laurel passed away peacefully at his home on Sept. 14 surrounded by his family after a long illness. Nip was born on Nov. 28, 1935 at the Hudson home place in Laurel. He was the son of Charles and Sara Edna (Dingle) Hudson. Nip was a graduate of Laurel High School’s class of 1953.

He retired as an Area Flock Supervisor for Perdue. In addition, Nip and his wife Jean have a poultry farm on Trap Pond Road in Laurel. Nip is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty Jean Hudson (Jean) and their two children, Dawn Hudson Gray (Joseph) of Nashville, TN and N. Wayne Hudson (Millie) of Laurel; four grandchildren, Sara E. Murray (Frank) of Nashville, TN, Leah Rachel Powers (Clay) of Waxhaw, NC, Zachery Wayne Hudson (Jessica) of Laurel, and Tyler Richard Hudson of Laurel; three great-grandchildren, Mallory Jean, Madden Claire, and Miller Hudson Murray. Nip has one living sibling Hope Huey (Gene). He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Sara Edna Hudson; siblings Hilda Tsuchiya (James), Vera Hearn (Elmer), Julian Hudson (Margaret), Manford Hudson (Jane), Darwin Hudson (Betty), Earl Hudson (Faye) and Alan Hudson (Norma Jean). Nip was blessed with many nieces and nephews that he loved very much.

Nip was a member of the Laurel Church of Christ. A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, Sept. 18 at the Laurel Church of Christ in Laurel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Norris Hudson can be made to the Laurel Fire Department, 205 W. 10th St., Laurel, DE 19956.
