Nancy M. Geiger, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend,passed away peacefully on Jan. 19, 2025, in Lewes.

Born on Sept. 26, 1949, in Milford, Nancy was the cherished daughter of the late Martin and Dorothy (Monroe) Mitchell.

Nancy’s lifelong dedication to helping others began with her education. After completing high school, she graduated with the first nursing class of Wesley College in Dover. She went on to have a distinguished career as a nurse, serving her community with compassion and expertise for 40 years.

Outside of her professional life, Nancy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid gardener, finding peace and satisfaction in nurturing her plants. She also loved camping and traveling, playing and watching sports, and creating tasting memories with family and friends. Nancy’s beloved dog, Oliver, held a special place in her heart and was a constant companion.

Nancy is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Eugene L. Geiger; their children, Brian Geiger and Lauren Geiger; grandson Noah Ross (Brandon Ross); her sister Janice Geiger and husband Fritz Geiger of Millsboro; and Janice’s son Steve Brittingham, wife Kristin and daughter Alyssa of Laurel. She is also survived by step brother Bobby Ellis and step sister Marsha Chubbs both of Laurel; her brother in law Joseph Geiger (Marilyn); her sister in law Barbara Kennedy; and many aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews as well as her close friends Leonard and Shirley Bacon and her life long friend Sue Warrington-Doud.

Nancy’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Grace United MethodistChurch in Millsboro on April 5 at 11 a.m. Refreshments and food will be available in the church hall following the ceremony.
