The firm of Lank, Johnson & Tull, Certified Public Accountants, was founded 50 years ago in Seaford, and is still growing.
Rick Tull and Mark Johnson, who have been with the company for a combined 65 years or more, are now the partners.
Well-known for preparing individual or business tax returns, Lank, Johnson & Tull has seen a growth in its audit department. “We now do 10 to 15 municipal audits a year,” Tull said.
Advancement in technology makes it easier for distant towns to share information electronically. Consequently, auditors don’t have to work out of the office as much.
“COVID changed things; we work more in-house rather than in clients’ offices, although we still do that, just not as often,” Tull continued.
With 19 employees now and two more at tax time, the firm’s region has expanded, with recurring clients in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. “Some are based in Delaware but operate elsewhere,” Tull noted, citing clients that have moved out of the area but still depend on Lank, Johnson & Tull for accounting help.
“We do much more than tax returns,” said Tull. “Our services include management advisory services, governmental and nonprofit auditing, accounting, payroll tax preparation, tax preparation for estates and trusts and financial planning.”
Referrals have resulted in clients as far away as California, Florida, Colorado and Texas.
