Martha L. Messick of Seaford, passed away on Jan. 19, 2021 at Seaford Genesis. Born in Charlottesville, Va. on July 21, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Susie Eddins. She grew up in Staunton, Va. and later moved to Winchester, Va. Martha loved the fact that she used to play with Patsy Cline.

Martha married Herman Smith and had two children. After his passing, she met and married Thomas Lambrose in June of 1945. They had three children while living and raising their family in Fredericksburg, Va. In 1962, she and her family moved to Laurel and Martha began working in various pant and garment factories, Seaford VFW for 12 years, and Solo Cup in Federalsburg. She was a lifetime member of the Blades Ladies Auxillary, and the Seaford VFW Post 4961.

She is survived by her four children; Walter Smith and his wife Brenda, Thomas Lambrose and his wife Linda, David Lambrose and his wife Janice, and Carol A. Lambrose Hitchens; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Fred Smith.

All services will be private due to COVID-19 restrictions. Pastor Joe LeCates will officiate. Interment will be held in Laurel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Messick’s honor to the Blades Volunteer Fire Department, 200 East Fifth Street, Seaford, Delaware 19973. Arrangements are in the care of the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home in Laurel.
