Kenneth Theodore Hastings, a cherished father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Aug. 19 in Laurel. Born in Salisbury, Kenneth’s life was a testament to his loving, thoughtful, and kind nature, which touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Kenneth’s professional life was marked by his expertise as a master HVAC. He proudly served in the National Guard, dedicating himself to the service of his country with the same passion he brought to every aspect of his life. His commitment to his community was further exemplified through his work with the Laurel Fire Department, where he was one of the first two individuals to pass the EMT test in Laurel. His dedication to helping others continued as a member of the American Legion Post 19, where he found a second family among his fellow veterans.
Kenneth’s interests were as generous and lively as his spirit. An avid fisherman, he found joy on the water, just as he did dancing and roller-skating. Known for his ability to fix anything, Kenneth was the go-to person for family and friends in need of a helping hand. His love for animals was yet another reflection of his compassionate soul.
He was predeceased by his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Howard S. Hastings. Kenneth’s legacy lives on through his loving daughter, DeAnna Farrell (Steven) of Seaford; his son, Russell Hastings of Lewes; his sisters, Sharon Davis of Laurel and Tami Whaley (James); his brother, Wesley Hastings of Laurel; and his cherished grandchildren, Hannah Jones, Tyler Scott, Zoey Hastings, Kenton Scott, and Kendall Scott.
Kenneth’s memory will be forever treasured by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to experience his warmth and generosity.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Kenneth’s memory with a donation to the Brandywine Valley SPCA Georgetown Campus, 22918 Dupont Blvd, Georgetown, DE 19947.
