Kathryn Louise (Smith) Ewing died peacefully on Feb. 6, 2024, at Coral Trace Nursing Home in Cape Coral, Fla.

Known as Kitty, she was born in Milford on March 30, 1942, the second daughter of Eleanore (Frankhouser) and William F. Smith of Harrington. Her paternal grandparents were Hattie and R. Baynard Smith, also of Harrington. She was the wife of Delaware State Police Lt. Col. (Ret) J. Benjamin Ewing, deceased, of Bridgeville. Her former marriages were to Captain Jackson P. Esham, deceased, of the Delaware State Police, and to Donald Levinson of Alexandria, VA. She was the mother of three sons: Vaughn Esham and Matthew Esham, both deceased, and Jeffrey Esham of Cape Coral, Fla. She was a 1960 graduate of Harrington High School where she was active in field hockey, band and glee club. For a number of years, she was the office manager of Cooper Realty in Seaford.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Esham of Cape Coral, Fla.; sister, Elvia Rae (Smith) Wade of Florham Park, NJ; brothers, William C. Smith and Michael Smith of Harrington; and by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

On May 3, 2024, at Cranston Funeral Home in Seaford, a viewing will be held from noon to 1 p.m. for family and friends, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. The interment will be at Bridgeville Cemetery immediately after the service.
