Karl Unterberger of Laurel passed away on Dec. 5, 2020 in Laurel at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was the son of the late Frederick Unterberger and Mildred Zorzi Unterberger. Karl was retired after 20 years of service with the United States Air Force as an Aerospace Propulsion Jet Engines Craftsman. While serving in the Air Force, he achieved many medals and awards; AF Commendation Medal, Education Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Longevity Service Award and the Good Conduct Medal.

After his retirement, he worked as a civilian in the Tech/Maintenance Department until his passing. Karl enjoyed hunting, fishing, country dancing, traveling, bowling with his grandsons, handyman work, listening to Johnny Cash, and most importantly he lived to make his wife happy. Karl was a member of the Moose Lodge of Camden, the NRA and the American Legion.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ann Unterberger; children, Lynnsue Bennett of Bridgeville, Betty Ann Kefauver-Nichols of Salisbury, and Venessa Kefauver-Carter of Bridgeville; brothers, Frederick Unterberger of Woodbridge, Va., and Kurt Unterberger of Pittsburgh, Pa.; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two nieces, and one nephew also survive him.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, May 18 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
