June Long of Seaford died on July 9, 2026, at Country Rest Home in Greenwood. She was born in 1929 in Long Island, NY to Eugene and Bess Owens.

She attended Springfield High School in Pennsylvania and received a bachelor’s degree in education from West Chester University in Pennsylvania.

She taught first grade in Haverford Township and substitute taught in Southern School District in Pennsylvania before moving to Delaware in 1968, where she taught elementary school in Laurel for one year and at Woodbridge Elementary for 21 years. Following her retirement in 1991, she volunteered at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and the Seaford Public Library.

June was married to William W. Long, Sr. for 64 years and is survived by her children, William W. Long, Jr., Karen Wilson (Bruce), Susan Long, and John Long (Susan); grandchildren, Lauren Carey, Michael Long (Jes), and Jessica Berg (Jorgen); and three wonderful, great-grandsons, Jonas, Joshua, and James Berg.

In addition to spending time with her family, she loved reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, and going out to eat with friends and family.

Just as she dedicated her career to teaching, she continues to educate even in death as she willed her body to scientific medical research.

Services and interment will be held privately.
