Judith Willey Slacum of Georgetown passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 13, 2025, at home. She was born on May 6, 1943, in Lewes to John Sr and Virginia Elliott Willey. Judy is survived by her husband of 38 years, George Slacum Jr,; her daughter, Suzannah Manogue Smoot and her husband Scott Smoot Sr.; stepson, Todd Slacum and his wife Dawn, their children, Seth Slacum, Remy Haynes, and Foster Haynes; grandchildren, Stacey Gillin and her husband Jeremiah, their children, Hunter Gillin and Bailey Gillin; Cody Smoot and his wife Kaite and their son, Ezra Smoot. She was predeceased by her parents, John Willey Sr. and Virginia Elliott Willey, and her brother, Johnny Willey.

Judy graduated from Seaford High School in 1961 and attended Goldey Beacom College. She began working as a dispatcher for the family business, Peninsula Oil Company, in 1970 and retired in 1997.

Throughout her adult life, Judy was an avid golfer, winning club championships at Seaford Golf and Country Club (2x), Sussex Pines Country Club, and Tanglewood Golf and Country Club in Sebring, Fla. Additionally she also achieved three holes in one. She will be fondly remembered by her many golfing friends for her competitive nature and her humility, never bragging about her accomplishments, just enjoying the game.

A public viewing will be held on Thursday, March 20 at Cranston Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 21, also at Cranston Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.
