Joseph John (Joe) Berg, Jr. of Laurel passed away on June 21, 2023 at the home he shared in Laurel with his beloved wife of 60 years, Anne. Joe was born in Trenton, New Jersey to Joseph Sr. and Julia Nagy Berg on June 20, 1939. After graduating from high school, Joe served in the United States Navy for three years on the U.S.S. Ranger as a radarman out of Alameda, California. Afterwards, he returned to Trenton, New Jersey and was hired by the former General Motors Parts Plant in Ewing, New Jersey. He served a tool and diemaker apprenticeship and then worked there in that role for the remainder of his enjoyable career. He retired from General Motors in 1995. 

Joe and Anne retired to Laurel. They joined the parish of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Seaford and Joe served as a Eucharistic Minister for the Sick for many years, along with participating in other volunteer activities at the church, including maintenance of the cemetery grounds. Joe enjoyed fishing, vacationing with his wife, Anne, his family, and friends, and reading. He also loved watching his Philadelphia sports teams. 

Joe is survived by his beloved family, including his wife, Anne; two daughters and their husbands, Anne and Steven Kreiss of Williamstown, New Jersey, and Julie and Scott Schulze of Lewes; one granddaughter, Caitlin Fraticelli, and her husband, Jonathon Weikel of Blackwood, New Jersey; two grandsons, Scott Schulze, Jr. and David Schulze of Lewes; one brother, Robert, and his wife, Louise of North East Maryland; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Joseph Sr. and Julia Nagy Berg, and his brother Jack. 

A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 1 from 11 a.m.-noon at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street, Laurel, Delaware 19956. A funeral service will begin at noon at the funeral home. Deacon Marty Barrett will officiate. Interment will be held privately.
