John Thomas Shannon III of Forsyth, Georgia, formerly of Seaford, passed away at Navicent Medical Center in Macon, Georgia, after a three-week battle with coronavirus and long-term issues stemming from heart disease. He was predeceased in death by his parents John Thomas Shannon Jr. and Geraldine (Magee) Shannon.

John is survived by his siblings: brother Brian Shannon and wife Patricia of Seaford, sisters Colleen Shannon and Paula Shannon of Seaford and Maureen Shannon of Ocean View; children: Julie Ann Shannon of Maryville, Tenn., Robin Almond and husband Jade of Knoxville Tenn., and their mother Lissa Porter of Arizona, and John Thomas Shannon IV and grandson Bentley of Forsyth, Georgia; Brian T. Shannon and grandson Richard Melvin of Woodside; Marshall Shannon and fiancé Mercedes Hamilton and his daughters Zarina and Georgia of Kingman, Arizona, and their mother Tammy Kay (Kirkendall) Shannon of Salisbury. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, an aunt and two uncles, and his little dog named Boy.

John was a mechanic in the HVAC field for many years. He was an avid hunter, car enthusiast; he loved fishing with his sons and enjoyed doing anything outdoors. He was a big guy with a big heart, a great friend to everyone. He always did his own thing. He never really settled down in one place. John was our Brother, Father and Friend and is with our Mom and Dad now. He will be greatly missed by all.

A celebration of life will be held on at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18 at Bethel Worship Center, 26648 Sussex Hwy. in Seaford. A visitation will be held at the church from 2-3 p.m. Pastor Joe Lecates will officiate.
