John Merrill Bunting of Georgetown passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at his home. He was born on May 25, 1948 in Lewes, son of the late John Bunting and Mary Gertrude Lewandowski.

From a young age, Mr. Bunting was a resident of the Stockley Center, later moving to a group home. At both care centers, he made many good friends. Mr. Bunting enjoyed car rides around town, listening to all kinds of music, and rocking away in his rocking chair. His sweet tooth meant he never met a dessert he didn’t like. A devout Christian, Mr. Bunting was a servant of the Lord and had great faith that he would one day meet his Savior. He was a loving and devoted brother, uncle, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Bunting is survived by his sister, Joyce Ann Kelley of Laurel; his nephew, Robert Mitchell (Vickie) of Laurel; his nieces: Tina Bunting of Laurel and Tracy Steele (Bud) of Laurel; his sister-in-law, Millie Bunting of Gumboro; his many great-nieces and great-nephews; and his devoted caretakers, all of whom he considered family.

A graveside service was held on March 31 at Carey’s Camp Cemetery, Conaway Road in Millsboro. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Yates Funeral Home, a Parsell Family Funeral Home, in Seaford.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Mr. Bunting’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
