John “Jack” R. Plummer went to his eternal home on Feb. 11, 2025. He passed away at TidalHealth Nanticoke following a serious fall in his home. Born in Seaford on Dec. 12, 1930, he was the son of the late C. Ray Plummer and F. Estelle Plummer. Jack, as he was called from a young age, was a lifelong resident of Seaford – born, raised, and graduated from Seaford High School in 1948. He worked on his parents’ farm and was later employed by Green Giant Foods. He married Anna Jane Hastings in February 1954. They lived on Hearn’s Pond in Seaford until they built their home on Bridgeville Hwy. where he was living independently.
Jack was a weekly visitor to the CHEER Greenwood Senior Center. He thoroughly enjoyed their activities, especially bingo, and enjoyed their delicious meals! He loved the staff and the many individual CHEER members. They were his “second family”, and he had visited the center the week of his passing.
Jack had recently lost his son, Terry L. Plummer, Esq. who had been a practicing attorney in San Diego for 40 years. Terry suddenly became ill and was diagnosed with colon and liver cancer. He passed on Dec. 15, 2024. His death was extremely devastating to Jack.
Surviving Jack are his stepdaughter, Anita Bounds Griffith, and her husband, Lee, of Friendswood, TX; Terry’s soulmate, Debra Crouch, of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Kimberly P. Griffith and John G. Griffith; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Jack in death are his parents, Ray and Estelle Plummer; his wife of 54 years, Jane Plummer; his son, Terry Plummer; and his three siblings, Catherine Adams (Roy), Joseph Plummer (Pansy), and Mary Lee DeLuca (Albert).
Jack’s family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Vitas Healthcare family who spent many hours caring for him at his end of life.
