John Edward Weldon of Seaford passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Christiana Hospital in Newark. Born on Nov. 30, 1943 in Claymont, he was the son of the late Harry Edward and Pearl Virginia Wilkinson Weldon. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army to serve his country.
Following his discharge, he then began his lifetime career with the DuPont Co. in Seaford, where he worked as a draw machine operator retiring in 1992 after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Nanticoke American Legion Post #6 of Seaford. A kind and giving person, Mr. Weldon was a Gift of Life Donor so that others might benefit from his legacy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter – Sharon; a sister- Shirley Webb; four brothers – William, George, Leslie and James Weldon. He is survived by a daughter – Donna Weldon; a son – John Eric Weldon; two grandchildren – Colin Weldon and Danae Weldon-Goslee; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966 on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at 1 p.m. Chaplain Tesha Miller will officiate. Memorial contributions, in his memory, may be made to the American Legion Post #6, P.O. Box 781, Seaford, DE 19973. The Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home in Laurel is serving the Weldon Family.
