It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jaye Westervelt Gmoser, a cherished and devoted registered nurse, who left us on Sept. 25, 2025. Jaye dedicated her life to the service of others, embodying the true spirit of compassion, care, and commitment.

Born on June 5, 1957 in Queens, NY, Jaye pursued her passion for nursing at Nassau Community College, then later, in life, at Empire State College of NY, receiving a Bachelor of Science, where she graduated with honors. Over a remarkable career spanning 30+ years, Jaye touched countless lives, providing comfort and healing to patients and their families. Her unwavering dedication to the nursing profession was evident in every shift she worked, every patient she cared for, and every colleague she mentored.

Jaye was not only a skilled and compassionate nurse but also a beloved member of the community. She was known for her warm smile, gentle demeanor, and the ability to bring comfort to those in need. Outside of her professional life, Jaye enjoyed traveling, her dogs, Sissy, Charlie and Fiona, a love of gardening, and she was a loving Grandmother to her family.

Jaye is cherished by her husband, George Werner. Above all, Jaye was a dedicated mother who devoted her life to her children, daughter Paige Dagis and her husband, and her son Brett Gmoser. She was a beloved grandmother to Charlotte and Hazel Dagis, who will forever cherish the memories of her kindness, generosity, and unwavering support. Her legacy of compassion and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew her.

A memorial service to celebrate Jaye’s life will be held Oct. 10-12 at her home at 9585 Cedar Lane, Seaford, DE 19973. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to American Lung Association (www.lung.org) in Jaye’s honor.

Jaye’s life was a testament to the power of kindness and the impact one person can have on the world. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
