Janet E. Jestice of Laurel passed away on July 8, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 13, 1945 as a twin to the late Charles Ellis and Frances Ellis Nichols.
Janet had worked for the state of Delaware as a social worker with State Social Services in Georgetown. Janet was a member of St. Paul’s Church. She loved to sing; in her younger years she and her twin sister Judy would sing at talent shows and on WBOC. Her favorite pastime was decorating and you could find her always sprucing up her house with beautiful decor.
Janet is survived by her loving husband, James “Jim” Jestice; son, John L. Lynch; step-daughter, Beth Lewis; step-son, Scott Jestice; granddaughter, Lauren Lynch Hitchens (Ollie); great granddaughter, Hannah Hitchens; step-grandchildren, Dillon Lewis, Jessica Lewis and Jack Jestice. Several nieces and nephews also survive her. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her step-father, Herb Nichols; sisters, Judy Robinson (twin sister), and Mary Helen Ellis.
A viewing will be held on Friday, July 18 from 1-2 p.m. at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street, in Laurel. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Pastor Tim Dukes and Pastor Rebecca Rollins will officiate. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery- Georgetown.
