James Thomas Pearce, 87, of Seaford passed away on Aug. 31, 2024 at Tidal Health Seaford. Jim was born Dec. 26, 1936 in Chicago, IL, the only child of James Willard and Della Kathryn (Melvin) Pearce.

Jim is survived by his wife Barbara (Barr) of Seaford; four children Jim (Becky) Pearce of Austin, TX, Elizabeth Pearce of New York, NY, Patrick Pearce of Chestertown, MD and Kevin (Laura) Pearce of Pflugerville, TX; and nine grandchildren Marie, Jamie, Gabi, Camden, Lucy, Harrison, Venus, Tyler and Finley Pearce.

He grew up in Peoria, IL and graduated from Spalding Institute and Bradley University. He had a career in sales and sales management, first in the pharmaceutical industry and later in financial services.

Jim was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed 60 years of marriage and spending time with family. He regularly coached his children’s Little League teams and assisted with their Boy and Girl Scout outings. He loved staying active with the family dogs, watching local college sports, travel, photography, researching family genealogy, having coffee with friends and occasionally laying on the car horn. He may not have invented the Dad joke, but he delivered them all with style and always showed compassion to family and friends.

Funeral service and burial were held on Sept. 7 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Peoria Heights, IL.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Food for the Poor or the charity of your choice.

The family would like to express their thanks for the care he received from Tidal Health Hospital, Accent Care and Manor House in Seaford.
