James N. (Jim) Brittingham of Laurel passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021 at home. He was born in Berlin and was the son of the late Bassett “Happy” and Georgia (Cropper) Brittingham.   

Jim graduated in the class of 1958 from Stephen Decatur High School. Most of his life he was a Master Plumber and owned James N. Brittingham Plumbing & Heating and later was a plumber in the maintenance department of SSU. He is also one of the surviving founders of the Ole Time Gospel Singers. 

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy M. Brittingham; one daughter, Sandra Orash (Ron) of Bishopville, Md.; two sons, James B. Brittingham (Tabatha) and John S. Brittingham (Colleen) all of Laurel; six grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Erin, Brittney, Marie and Marisa and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by an aunt, Christine Walston.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, June 27 at Bishop-Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville with Rev. Mark Erskine officiating. Burial was private in Delaware Veterans Cemetery.

A celebration of life will be held on July 3 at 2 p.m. at Shiloh Community Church, 14181 Shiloh Church Road in Laurel.
