James “Jimmy” E. Massey of Seaford, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 6, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 26, 1958 in Salisbury, a son of the late Elwood C. Massey and Dorothy “Dottie” L. (Carey) Massey.

Jimmy worked as a dispatcher for Dukes Lumber in Laurel, a job he loved for the past 31 years. He was a lifelong Washington Redskins fan, loved the outdoors, including fishing and camping and had a passion for animals, especially his beloved cat “Duffy Elwood Massey.” He also loved classic rock and country music concerts and each year looked forward to the June Jam and attending the Renaissance Festival in Maryland. More recently he found a true appreciation for old westerns and the cooking channels.

He is survived by his beloved companion of over 16 years, Maggie Short; her son, Aaron Short, who was like a son to him; sisters, Sue Nero (Richard), Joan Koshkin (Bruce) and Deborah Massey; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his Duke’s Lumber family, who were like brothers and sisters to him.

A celebration of Jimmy’s life will be held on Friday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. at Central Worship Center, 14511 Sycamore Road, Laurel, DE 19956, where a visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m.. Pastor Tim Dukes will officiate.
