James “Jim” Ohm Achey of Seaford passed away tragically on Oct. 21, 2023, in Worchester Township. He was born in Delaware County, Pa. on July 2, 1966 to the late James Allen Achey and Eileen Ebert Achey.
Jim was a maintenance technician with Redner’s Warehouse Markets. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, listening to music, and riding his Harley with his motorcycle club “Easy Riders of the Shore.”
James is survived by his son, Shawn M. Achey and his companion Eleni Kalamaris of Camp Hill, Pa.; daughter, Danielle M. Rice of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; step-daughter, Cara Anne Van Buskirk and her husband Dylan of Frederica; former wife and mother of his children, Marie Achey of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; sister, Deborah M. Strunak and her husband John of Pottsville, Pa.; and grandchildren, Amari and Aria. In addition to his parents, he was sadly preceded in death by his wife, Suzette Marie Achey, whom also passed away in the same tragic accident. Jim was always willing to help others and will be deeply missed by family, friends and co-workers.
A celebration of life was held on Friday, Nov. 3 at the Landingville Community Fire Company in Landingville, Pa. A celebration of life will also be held on Sunday, Nov. 19 at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street, Laurel, Delaware 19956. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from noon to 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made in Jim Achey’s honor to an animal rescue of your choice or to his grandchildren’s college fund.
