Howard “Melvin” Truitt passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood. He was born on July 13, 1933, the son of the late Fred Lee Truitt and Mattie Lillian (Penuel) Truitt.
He spent many years as a farmer before retirement and worked 20 years at NKS Distributing in Milford. In his time outside of work he enjoyed gardening, making pickles and cracking black walnuts and pecans.
He is survived by his children, Linda (Lenny) Truitt and her husband Glen Mellin, Lois Passwaters and her husband Edward, grandchildren, Jerry Shrieves and his wife Jodi, David Shrieves and his wife Leigh Anne, Ian Passwaters and his wife Jennifer, Jesse Passwaters and his wife Denise, Shane and Zach Mellin; great-grandchildren, Logan and Jordan Shrieves, and Raina, Cora and Olivia Passwaters, and a brother, George Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife of 50 years, Barbara Truitt.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 7 p.m. at Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg. Friends may call on the family from 6-7 p.m. prior to the start of the service.
