Hobert G. Price of Laurel entered the gates of heaven on Jan. 15, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Piney Creek, North Carolina, he was the son the late Clyde and Mary Handy Price. His family moved to Delaware when he was in grade school. He went to Laurel High School until he was 16. Later on he went to work to C. C. Oliphant’s, and he spent 22 years with them. While working at CCO, he worked part time at Carey’s Getty Station. After retiring from CCO, he went to work at Perdue Farms for 10 years. He retired from there and wasn’t happy staying at home so he went to work at Dukes Lumber. He retired from there after 10 years. He loved working and was not happy being retired. He could not stand to not have anything to do.

He attended the Laurel Wesleyan Church. In 1991 he married the love of his life, Julia Brian Gallagher Records. He is also survived by son, Daniel Price and his wife Florence of Laurel; daughter, Sharon Zockoll Marshall and her husband Jamie of Lakeland, Florida; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his special step-daughter, Cathy Gallagher Mitchell, who was his caregiver; step children, Fran Bishop, James M. Gallagher, Phillip Gallagher, seven step grandchildren, six step great-grandchildren; one step grandson that he helped raise James (Mikey) Gallagher. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Price and his wife Janice; bonus daughter, Paula Sheets and her husband Chuck; and a special friend, Johnny Smith of Laurel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Irvin Price, Wayne Price, and Earl Price; sisters, Bonnie Huffman and Alisa Absher.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 30, 2021 at the Laurel Wesleyan Church, 30186 Seaford Road, Laurel, Delaware 19956.
