When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. Helen “Peggy” Church of Delmar, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was truly a treasure to her family. Peggy peacefully passed on Monday, March 11, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury.

Born in Laurel on Nov. 29, 1934, Helen, affectionately known as Peggy, was the daughter of the late Roy Albert Parsons and Elsie Mae (Hill) Parsons. She dedicated her life to her family and work. Her memory will forever be cherished by her daughters Mildred, Nancy, and Cindy. Peggy’s unwavering love and support will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, determination, and compassion that will be remembered by all who knew her.

Peggy was a graduate of Laurel High School. After graduation she began working at the Dupont Company in Seaford. It was there she would meet the man she would marry, Donald Moore. Once they began having a family, she devoted her time to raising her daughters. As the girls grew older, she went back to work first at the Delmar Convention Center, and later working alongside her second husband, George at Church Upholstery. She later went to work at Salisbury Genesis in the accounting department, retiring after 30 years of service.  Peggy also was a member of St. Paul’s Church in Laurel, the Laurel Saddle Friends, the Eastern Shore Gold Wings, and the Moose Lodge in Salisbury since 1976. She had a love for listening to bluegrass and southern gospel music.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Mildred “Mickie” Moore Layfield Bare, Nancy Moore Cooper Mullen, and Cindy Moore; as well as several cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Vincent Moore and George Donald Church, Sr; daughter, Donna Mae Moore; and siblings, George Parsons, Donald Parsons, June Ball and Grace Massey.
