With deepest sorrow and abiding love, we announce that our beloved Harold Wayne Willoughby — affectionately known as “Toggle” and “Babe” by his nieces and nephews — passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Dec. 18, 2024.
Harold was born to Ormond and Shirley Ann Willoughby in Bridgeville, where he spent the majority of his life, apart from recent years spent in the quiet beauty of upstate New York. From a young age, Harold worked diligently and for many years at TG Adams and Sons in Bridgeville, as well as area construction, embodying a strong work ethic and a spirit of dedication that carried throughout his life.
An avid outdoorsman, Harold found great joy in fishing and hunting, often alongside his brothers and friends. He had a natural talent for working with his hands, especially when it came to tinkering with cars and tractors — a passion that brought him both pride and peace.
Harold had a deep love for country music and classic rock, and there was scarcely a song whose lyrics he didn’t know by heart. He also found comfort in the simple pleasures of old Western films. But more than anything, Harold treasured the moments spent gathered around the table with family and friends — sharing meals, laughter, and stories, with music filling the air. His vibrant laugh was known to light up any room and remains a sound cherished by all who knew him.
Harold was preceded in death by his father Ormond; his baby brother Ray; his dear sister Mary Ann Warner; and beloved nieces and nephews. He is lovingly remembered by his mother Shirley Ann; his brothers Gary, David (Kelly), Robert (Stephen), and Pastor Mark (Kristie); and by many adoring nieces and nephews.
We invite you to join us in celebrating Harold Wayne’s remarkable life — a life marked by warmth, humor, and love — on Monday, May 12. A service will be held at the Church of God in Bridgeville from 10:30-11:30 a.m. followed by a burial ceremony at Bloomery Cemetery in Federalsburg. Together, we will honor his memory and the joy he brought to so many.
