Born in Laurel on July 16, 1952, George J. Hastings passed away on Feb. 14, 2024. He was the son of George D. Hastings and Betty B. Hastings. He was proceeded in death by his parents and two sisters, Edith Wootten and Audrey Quillen. He has two surviving siblings, Mary King and Danny Hastings; many nieces and nephews; and three brother-in-laws: Alan King, Ralph Wootten, and Ricky Quillen.
Bud moved to Florida in 1973 with his wife Norma Ruth Hastings. He had three step daughters. They loved camping and visiting family and friends. They lived in Zephyrhills, Fla. and worked for Zephyrhills Egg Company for many years. They moved to Crystal Spring, Fla. after retiring. Norma passed away on Jan. 5, 1993. They had been married for 20 plus years.
He later met Helga Dupree, his loving companion for 30 years. Helga has two daughters. He loved them as his own.
Bud and Helga loved traveling, music, dancing, dining out and the Moose Club and friends.
He loved his gardening and sharing the vegetables he grew with his neighbors and beautiful flowers. He will be missed by all.
