It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gail B. Spencer, a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and a truly remarkable woman.

Gail was born on June 24, 1943, to Harry Wallace Taylor and Dorothy Mae Cregin Taylor in Brooklyn, NY, and was raised in Queens Village, NY. She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Queens then went on to attend and graduate from secretarial school.

In 1961, Gail met the love of her life, Don Spencer. They married in October of 1963; they shared nearly 62 years of unwavering love, laughter, and partnership. Together, they raised two children, Susan Michel (Charles) and Daniel Spencer (Mariela), and moved 15 times throughout their marriage, including a memorable and life-changing time living abroad in Paris, France. During their time there, Gail took cooking lessons and became an exceptional cook.  Her specialty being entrecote and her many desserts.  Susan and Daniel attended the American School of Paris.

Gail had a creative spirit, loved making crafts, crocheting, and sewing. Her happiest moments came with the arrival of her beloved grandchildren: Charles Michel, Christopher Michel (Samantha), Courtney Mitan (Alexander), Jack Spencer, Sophie Spencer, and Jennifer Spencer and later, her cherished great-granddaughter, Lillian Mitan.

Gail will be remembered for her warm heart, generous nature, and the kindness she shared with everyone around her. She had a gentle, giving spirit and was always ready to offer a helping hand. Her compassion touched the lives of many, and her memory will be deeply treasured by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her niece, Janet Horton. She is survived by her beloved husband, Don; her daughter, Susan (Charles) and son, Daniel (Mariela); her six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; her loving sister, Carol Ostmark (Jack) and brother, Neil Taylor; her niece, Nancy Nelson; and her dearest and closest friend, Jeanne Fragetta.

We will carry Gail’s memory with us always, and forever cherish the moments we shared with her.
