Frederick Cozza of Bridgeville passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020.

Fred retired in 1986 with 31 years of Federal Government Service with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Seaford. Fred was the Exalted Ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks and a member of the Eagles, The Sons of Italy, The American Legion, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, and Catholic War Veterans. Those who knew Fred know he survived many life-saving surgeries and defeated all the odds. After surviving the last nine-hour surgery at the age of 82, Fred wrote, “I never lost a fight”. This is how Fred lived his life; he was a fighter.  

Fred is survived by his loving wife Carol of 46 years. He is also survived by his son William Christopher Cozza (Yuka), Theresa Kimberly Cozza-Rhodes (David), Dorothea Brandyn Cozza; and grandchildren: Nickolas Cozza (Ashley), Rico Cordero, Dominic Cozza, Renna Cozza, Risa Cozza, Shay and Jared Rhodes, and Joe Cordero. Fred is also survived by his sister Carol Kirtley (Darryl); nephews: Terry Walters (Tracy), Mark Roy (Stacey), Matthew Roy (Tammy), Michael Roy (Karen), Ricky Cozza (Michelle), Ronney Cozza (Michelle), Kenny Cozza (Kellie); nieces, Diana Chick (Ross), Tina Dilworth, and Janella Peltak (Tom).

Fred is preceded in death by his brother, James Cozza and nephew, Eddy Walters.

Funeral services were on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Seaford. The burial took place at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro.
