Francis “Art” Ashcraft of Ocean Pines passed away on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021 at Atlantic General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Hamilton, Ohio, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Martha Ashcraft; his parents Manford and Christine Ashcraft; two brothers, Walter Ashcraft and Arnold Ashcraft; two sisters, Barbara Stansbury and Laura Sweeney; son-in-law, Keith Miller; and grandson, Joshua Miller. He is survived by his sons, Francis (Butch) Ashcraft of Missouri; James Ashcraft (Becky) of Millsboro; Randy Lee Ashcraft (Lisa) of Ocean City; daughter, Julie Miller of Ocean Pines; four sisters, Lois Carpenter, Sharon Napier, Wilda Kidwell and Linda Davidson; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Art was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Chincoteague, VA as an airplane mechanic. Until a decline in his health, he owned his own business for many years, “Art’s Carpet Service”. He loved playing golf, fishing and playing bass guitar with his sons in the family band “Almost Country”.
All services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are in the care of the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street, Laurel, DE 19956.
