Eileen Szewczak, (nee Gerger) passed away peacefully at home after a three-year battle with ALS on Oct. 27, 2020.

She was born and resided in Philadelphia, Pa., until she retired to Seaford. Eileen went to St. Peter’s Grade School and John J. Hallahan High School (‘64). She won first place in the Philadelphia Garden’s contest three times, she was published in many magazines and a book for her artwork. She was creative and loved her family and friends and her faith never left her and she prayed daily to St. John Neumann.

She married her high school sweetheart and had two children together. When she lost her ability to speak, Facebook and text messages were her only way she communicated; it was a tough adjustment especially for someone who loved to talk, but she handled it, like everything she faced, with the attitude of ‘it is in God’s plan.’ Even though she was facing her own health issues she always wanted to be sure everyone else was okay and taken care of, she always had a kind word or compliment for everyone.

Eileen is survived by her husband of 56 years, Joseph; son Joseph, Jr.; daughter Anne Marie McPeake, son-in-law Vincent McPeake; grandchildren Jaclyn and Sean McPeake; and many life-long friends and family.

Funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes, Seaford on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 11 a.m., due to COVID-19, it will be shown via Our Lady of Lourdes, Seaford’s Facebook live and YouTube channel. Burial is private.
