Edward Michael “Mike” Moynihan of Seaford passed away peacefully at home on Friday, Oct. 29. He was born on Aug. 1, 1947 in Milford. He was the first of four boys born to the late Edward J. and Helen Prince Moynihan, also of Seaford.

Mike graduated in 1965 from Seaford Senior High School. While obtaining a degree from Michigan State University, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service in East Lansing, Michigan. He returned to Delaware in the late 1970s to work for the state of Delaware as a social worker. Mike moved to San Marcos, Texas in the mid-1980s where he was employed by Thurman Manufacturing as a computer programmer. In the early 1990s he returned to Delaware again to work with his brother, Larry, as a real estate appraiser for Tidewater Properties in Seaford. Mike retired in 2014.

Mike was an avid bicyclist. He traveled to Europe with his life-long friend, John Thiem, where they cycled together through Italy, Austria, and Switzerland. Mike also enjoyed cooking. His creamed potato casserole was a favorite addition to many Thanksgivings and Christmas family dinners. His greatest joys were reading from his extensive book collection and listening to classical and jazz music from his vast compilation of CDs.

He is survived by a brother, Laurence P. Moynihan, and his wife, Kaye, of Seaford, as well as sister-in-law, Marcie Moynihan, of Austin, Texas.
