Building Community, Uniting a Nation the Nonviolent Way: This theme, from The King Center, is a blueprint for action to build the Beloved Community. It emphasizes creating a world free from injustice where violence is replaced by compassion and love.

Help celebrate the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr., an influential American civil rights leader. Dr. King was most well-known for his campaigns to end racial segregation on public transport and for racial equality in the United States.

This family-friendly celebration was well attended with over 200 enthusiasts and will take place on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026.

Elder Tyrone Johnson Sr., a powerful speaker, will present the keynote. The guest singers are the Sussex County Community Choir; guest youth: 2025 Miss Lil AFRAM- Jahzara Reid-Cuffee; Black Inventions, My’Keal Bowers- performing arts; organization: CUPS Mission; Ash the Fitness Rebel; Heart and Sole, the Culture Club. Co Partnership:, Cornerstone Community Center, St. Johns United Methodist Church, OUTLOUD, LLC and Walmart.

The DreamTeam Committee would like to make this a “no cost” event for participants. Sponsorship levels: $1,000 platinum, $500 gold, $250 silver, and $100 bronze. In-kind donations acknowledged.
