Dr. Eduardo Larios Jiloca of Seaford passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 10, 2021. He was surrounded by his loving wife and children, and his faithful dog, Joker.

Dr. Jiloca was born in IloIlo, Philippines, the son of Florentino Jiloca and Pilar (Larios) Jiloca. He graduated from the University of Santo Thomas Medical School in 1963, and completed his Family Medicine residency in Suffolk, Virginia in 1965. He eventually settled in Seaford in 1973, where he met his wife, Rosalina DeJesus. He established a successful family medicine practice at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, where in addition to caring for the needs of his many patients, he also served as president of the medical staff. Well-respected by his colleagues, he was chosen to represent them as the president of the Sussex County Medical Society from 1984-1986. He also was a member of the hospital’s board of trustees and a member of the board of trustees of the Delaware Medical Society. In 2009, after a long and respected career, he and his wife were inducted into the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital Physician Hall of Fame, in recognition of their significant contributions to the hospital and community. As he said when he was inducted, “I wanted to stay in one hospital- I wanted to feel I was making an impact.”

Dr. Jiloca is survived by his wife Rosalina, daughter Suzanne Marie of Baltimore, Md., son Edward Paul of Olney, MD, daughter-in-law Laura Calderone, granddaughter Mia Catherine, grandsons Oliver Frederick and Finn Elliot, sisters Estela Jiloca and Remia Castellano of the Philippines, and many more beloved family members in the U.S., Canada, and the Philippines.

The burial ceremony will be family-only. Due to the current pandemic, a memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on a future date when the many people who love and mourn him can safely gather and share their memories.
