Donald R. Dickerson, Sr. of Laurel, passed away on Sept. 23, 2024 at the Country Rest Home in Greenwood. Donald retired from the E.I. DuPont Company with over 40 years of service in field maintenance and as a skilled millwright. He also enjoyed farming on land owned by his family since the 1800s in Little Creek Hundred.
Donald is survived by his children; Lewis R. Dickerson and his wife Terry; Carol J. Schlotterbeck and her husband Daniel; brother, Frazier Dickerson and his wife Mary. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren also survive him. Donald was preceded in death by his wife Merdyst Meyer Dickerson; and his sons, Donald R. Dickerson, Jr. and Arthur L. Dickerson ( Shirley).
A visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 11 -11:45 a.m. at the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home, 700 West Street, Laurel, Delaware 19956. A graveside service will be held at noon at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Laurel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Dickerson’s honor to the Sussex County Land Trust, P.O.
