Donald P. Wiedmann of Lewes, and formerly of Fenwick Island, Seaford, and Buffalo, NY, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021 at The Moorings of Lewes of non-COVID related causes. He was born in Buffalo, NY and graduated from PS 66 in 1941, and Buffalo Technical High School in 1945. Mr. Wiedmann served in the Army Specialized Training Reserve Program in 1945. He graduated from Clarkson University (Potsdam, NY) with a degree of Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering in 1951. Mr. Wiedmann worked for the DuPont Company in Seaford for over 33 years, retiring in 1985. At the time of his death, he was living at The Moorings of Lewes where he had moved to in 2007.

Mr. Wiedmann was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Lewes. He had been a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Seaford for over 50 years where he served as vestryman, Sunday School teacher, and cemetery chairman.

Mr. Wiedmann was a registered Professional Engineer (DE) and had served a three-year term on the State Board of Boiler Safety. He was awarded the Order of Merit from the Del-Mar-Va Council, Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Wiedmann will be remembered by many for his smile, wit, and humor.

Mr. Wiedmann is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mildred, as well as four children: Charles and wife Marla of Lexington, NC; Elaine and husband Steven Portalupi of Newmarket, NH; Janice and husband the Rev. William Starke of Monaca, PA; and Marlene Wiedmann of Roxana. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions no services are planned at this time. Interment will be in Mound Hill Cemetery in Nicholville, NY at the convenience of the family.
