Dennis B. Hearn of Laurel passed away peacefully on Jan. 3, 2026. He was born on Nov. 18, 1945, the son of the late Boyce and Reba Hearn.
Dennis was a man of many talents. He was a sheet metal mechanic at CC Oliphant’s. He then started his own construction business, D. Hearn Builders. He also ran a poultry farm raising chickens with his wife, Cheryl.
Although not a man of many words, he sat back and took everything in, letting you know his thoughts when he was ready. He worked very hard, and he also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Whether just talking or showing them how to fix or build something.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 59 years, Cheryl Hastings Hearn; their daughter, Stacy Clausen (Jeff) and children, Katey, Jeffrey, and Ashley Clausen; their son, Andrew Hearn (Sabrina) and children, Andrew (AJ) and Tegan Hearn. He is also survived by his brother, Vaughn Hearn (Pat) and sisters, Debbie Jones and Delores Maccari.
In addition to his parents, Dennis was proceeded in death by his brother, Walter Hearn.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Delaware Hospice at 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963, or The Odd Fellows Charity Lodge at P.O. Box 146, Laurel, DE 19956.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Jan. 9 at 1 p.m. at The Barn, 31197 Mount Pleasant Road, Laurel, DE 19956.
