It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dawn Lea Pusey of Laurel, who left us on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024. Dawn was born on June 28, 1977, in Milford. A remarkable woman, she filled her 47 years with love, laughter, and a passion for caring for others.
Dawn was a dedicated day care mom for 12 incredible years, pouring her heart into the lives of the children she cared for as if they were her own. After that chapter, she went on to work at the state of Delaware as a social worker, where she continued to touch lives and make a difference in her community.
She was a devoted member of The Ark church and found great joy in her faith. Known affectionately as “Momma Dawn” to her kids’ friends, she created a welcoming and loving atmosphere for everyone around her. Her two children were her pride and joy, and she never missed a chance to support them at their sporting events and other activities.
Dawn’s love extended beyond her family to friends and animals alike. She was a loud, vibrant person who never shied away from a good conversation or sharing a laugh. She had a special fondness for the beach, where she could soak up the sun and enjoy the waves.
She is survived by her children, Matthew A. Pusey, and Melea A. Pusey; her mother, Betty Jane Millner; her father, Lewis Wayne Rogers; siblings, Lorrie Sylvester, Jordan Klaus (Tanner), Kevin Rogers (Crystal), Kyle McCloskey (Patrick), Tina Harrington, Lewis Harrington (Wendy), and Chad Harrington; former husband, Eddie Pusey; mother and father-in-law, Ed and Debbie Pusey; and sister-in-law, Anissa Brittingham (Mitchell).
She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Doreen Rogers; stepfather, Glenn Millner; grandparents, Joseph and Evelyn Rogers and Louis and Hazel Davis; and a late brother-in-law, James Sylvester.
We invite friends and family to join us as we celebrate Dawn’s life on Thursday, Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. We would love for you to share memories, stories, and the joy she brought into your lives.
