David L. LeCates of Laurel passed away on Oct. 31 at Lifecare at Lofland Park in Seaford. Born in Lewes, he was the son of the late Franklin LeCates and Kathryn Klatt LeCates.

David graduated from Laurel High School in 1964 and was a past member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. He was retired as a machinist, and after retiring as a machinist, he owned and operated “Southern Delaware Shooters” where he was a gunsmith. In his free time he enjoyed deer hunting.

David is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ellen LeCates of Laurel; son, Robert LeCates of Tennessee; brother, Donald J. LeCates and his wife Nancy of Bethel; sister, Karen A. Towers and her husband Monte of Seaford; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive him.

All services will be held privately. Arrangements are in the care of the Hannigan, Short, Disharoon Funeral Home in Laurel.
