David “Jake” Morgan of Laurel passed away on Aug. 25, 2024 at his home. He was born on March 20, 1953, in New York. David was the son of the late Roland J. Hill and Mary “Fuss” Gordy Hill. He graduated from Laurel High School in the class of 1971. While in high school, he was very proud to travel with his FFA Club in both ninth and 12th grade to Kansas for their National Convention, as well as, traveling to Springfield for a third National Convention. Jake’s most treasured legacy was his family, growing up and working on his family’s farm, and coaching the Laurel Pop Warner football players. He coached many teams and was proud of winning several state championships.

David is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Janet Allison Morgan; daughter, Alison Price (Alan); son, Marc David Morgan; grandchildren, Morgan Riggleman (Leslie), Sidney Hastings, Taylor Brown (Kodi), and Hunter Price; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Remi Riggleman; sisters, Susan Steen (Eddie), Barbara Hudson (Benny), Carol Oldach (Hugh), and Debbie Taylor (Kenny). Several nieces and nephews also survive him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Scott Joshua Morgan, and his brother, Gary Hill.

A visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 31 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church, 200 West Market Street, Laurel, Delaware 19956. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. Reverend Dean Perdue will officiate.
