David Francis Nuss entered the Lord’s presence in his home May 29, 2024 surrounded by his wife Michelle and friends. David was born Oct. 5, 1953 in Weehawken, NJ to Walter and Dorothy Nuss. His mother affectionately spoke of him as her baby boy having been born premature, she raised him despite warnings he may not survive. David grew up in Westwood, NJ with his brother Bruce and sister Cindy.
David served the Lord for 45 years as a minister in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. He received degrees from Concordia Bronxville followed by Concordia Senior College, and Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He served various congregations in Michigan and Indiana. During this time, he had three daughters JoAnna, Jerioth, and Jessie with his first wife Pam. David then moved to Delmar, NY in 1986 where he served at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. There he met and married Michelle LaQuire. They moved to Glen Cove, NY in 1989 where David served as Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church. Their son Joshua was born while there. In 1993 they moved to Pawling, NY where David served at Christ the King Lutheran Church. In 2000 they moved to Albany, NY to serve at St. Matthews Lutheran Church. Finally, David and Michelle moved to Seaford to serve at Christ Lutheran Church where he retired from full-time ministry in 2023.
David loved kayaking and fishing with his wife and family as well as bird watching. He could be found often playing songs for his grandchildren on his guitar and laughing with friends and church members. David loved people and always sought to care for those around Him as a shepherd of the Lord.
