Crystal Jewell Chaffinch of Seaford passed away peacefully at home on March 30, 2025.
Born in Cameo, West Virginia on Dec. 30, 1938. She attended and graduated from Scott High School on May 23, 1957. She met her husband while he was serving in the United States Air Force in Charleston, West Virginia. They were married on Sept. 5, 1959.
Crystal’s first job was as a nanny to two small children. She was a housewife and mother for many years and then worked and retired from Procino Plating after 15 years of employment.
Crystal was a lifetime member of the Blades Fire Company Auxiliary serving as the president for several years. She also was a 50-year member of the Ladies of the Loyal Order of the Moose. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and spending time with her friends and family. She particularly enjoyed spending time at the Dairy Bar Restaurant.
She was preceded in death by her husband Earl E. Chaffinch, Sr.; daughter Crystal French; mother Thelma Stone; father Randal Stone; sisters Jean Smith and Janetta Hancock; and brothers James Walters and Jarrell Stone.
Crystal is survived by her daughter Linda Wheatley and husband Thomas; son Earl Chaffinch, Jr. and wife Leanne; daughter Paula Moore and husband Floyd; sister Janet Warren and her husband Rich; grandchildren, Allison Rebman, John French III, Nicholas Wheatley, Heather French, Matt Wheatley, Brooke Brittingham, Hannah Moore, and Floyd Moore IV. She is also survived by 24 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild and many special nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation to the Blades Volunteer Fire Company at 200 E 5th St. in Blades.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5 at 11 a.m. with a public viewing from 10 to 11 a.m., at Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N Shipley Street in Seaford. Committal services and inurnment will take place on Thursday, April 10 at 11 a.m. at Delaware Veterans Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way in Millsboro.
