The Lord called Marian home on Sept. 4, 2024. Marian was born on July 31, 1931 to parents Ezekial and Maude Holder in Cambridge.
She grew up in Vienna and graduated from Vienna High School. In school, she was involved in basketball, softball, and 4H club. After graduation, she took a year off then moved to Seaford at age 19.
She began her career at Dupont in Seaford. She worked as a lab tech, prin prep, and draw twist. In 1992, she retired from Dupont after working there for 38 years. She enjoyed her employment at Dupont with many friends.
She met John “Jack” Holt when she moved to Seaford. They were married for 44 years until Jack passed away.
For many years, they went to the Delaware State Fair, were involved in the Lions Club, Barbershop Chorus and worked at election polls.
Those left to honor her memory are: Brandi Lee, a daughter she never had whom she loved very dearly; caregivers Chris Corbin, Janet Hackett, Stacy Morris; and special friends Kay Wheatley and her daughter Emily Wheatley. She is also survived by three goddaughters, Kimberlee Eveland Lewis of Alexandria, Va., Kelly Eveland Callahan of Hillsboro, Md., and Krista Eveland of Annapolis, Md.; her good friend Sheila Tull and many others. Last but not least her dog Fancy Pants, she never left her side and her guardian angel Puff the cat!
“Miss Marion and Mr. Jack” will always be remembered by her goddaughters with love, and for special memories made at the beach and Delaware State Fair. Their love and laughter are treasured childhood memories.
Marian was a long-time member of St. John’s UMC in Seaford. She helped out with the United Methodist Women’s dinners.
Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Seaford. The burial took place in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Seaford following the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marian’s memory to St. John’s UMC, SPCA in Georgetown, or American Cancer Society.
