Cheryl Ann Tillett of Laurel passed away suddenly on Friday, Aug. 20, 2021 at TidalHealth Nanticoke Hospital in Seaford.
She was born Jan. 29, 1957 in Baltimore, a daughter of the late Robert and Betty (Green) Herman.
Cheryl’s childhood began in the Glen Burnie area and later in life she moved to the shore. She loved the beach and held a special place in her heart for Assateague and their beloved ponies. As an animal lover she has raised several bassett hounds and she loved every one of them as if they were her children. Her passion for motorcycles started in the 70s and she continued to ride until her health began to fail. In her younger days she worked as a social worker then held a few other jobs while trying to raise her family. Her life changed when she first became a grandmother and more than anything she loved spending time with her grandson and family.
She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Lynn Tillett and fiancé, Joseph Bennett of Laurel; grandson, Trent Robert Tillett; sister, Victoria Eckart and husband, William; and several nieces and nephews.
No formal services are planned at this time. In honor of Cheryl’s love for pets, memorial contributions may be sent in her memory to the Brandywine Valley SPCA, Georgetown Campus, 22918 Dupont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947.
Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.shortfh.com.
