Carolyn Baker Smith of Delmar, Md. passed peacefully on July 18, 2025, at Cadia Rehabilitation after a short illness. Carolyn was born Oct. 15, 1942, in Queen Anne’s to James P. Baker Sr. and Thelma Baker. She grew up in Berlin and graduated from Stephen Decatur High School.

Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Thomas Smith Sr., and her six children, Tommy Smith Jr. (Marian), Sherrie Givens, Kathy Dulis, Scott Smith (Brandi), Amy Crockett (Dwayne), and Holly Kunde (Ben). She is also survived by 28 grandchildren and great grandchildren, her sister, Bonnie Baker, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, James P. Baker Sr. and Thelma Baker, her in-laws William J. Smith Sr. and Naomi Smith, her brothers, James Baker Jr, Allan Baker, and Keith Baker, her son-in-law, Mark Givens, and her grandson, Eric Givens.

Per her wishes, all arrangements will be private, but a celebration will be held in the near future for family and close friends. The family would like to thank Cadia Rehabilitation and Accent Care Hospice for the care and attention they gave to our mother in her final days.
