Carol Mae Whaley of Seaford passed away on March 19 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Carol was born on July 19, 1940, to the late Zora K. Waller and Pauline E. Dukes Waller. She graduated from Laurel High School in the class of 1958 and was a lifetime member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She was retired from Delaware Technical and Community College as an administrator in their bookstore.

Carol enjoyed reading, volunteering at the Central Elementary School in Seaford, having breakfast dates with her sister, and hosting family dinner every Wednesday evening. Her most treasured legacy was her family, and she truly was the most devoted wife of over 59 years, mother, sister, and grandmother. Watching her grandchildren’s events and spending time with them was her most favorite pastime; for she was even known to the Seaford football team as “Mom Mom”.

Carol is survived by her loving husband, Robert L. Whaley; daughter, Paula Smith (Rosure); son, Lee Whaley (Trista); sister, Helen Kern; grandchildren, Carolyn Retzlaff (Josh), Rosure R. Smith, Tyler Whaley, Trevor Whaley, Amber Whaley, Tyler Balas (Hannah); great-grandchildren, Jameson Retzlaff and Waylon Balas.
