Adults 18 and up, do you have plans for a summer garden? Do you love to shop at farmers markets for great produce? If practiced properly, canning is an important, safe method of food preservation to save summer’s bounty.

The University of Delaware Cooperative Extension is happy to present  “Canning 101” at the Laurel Public Library on Saturday, May 30 at 11 a.m. This introductory training will review the basic steps of home food preservation by water bath canning. Testing of your pressure canner gauge will also be offered at the end of the session.  Registration is required.

To register, please visit https://laurel.lib.de.us/ or call 302-875-3184.  Just a reminder that some programs will require registration due to cost and space restrictions. If you cannot make it, you must give us 24 hours’ notice of cancellation. If you fail to cancel two times in a 60-day period, you will not be allowed to register for any programs for 60 days. This program is made possible with support from the Margarette Hughes Eley Fund.
