Bruce Warren Justice of Seaford, passed away peacefully on Aug. 28, 2025, surrounded by loving family. He was born in Milford on Feb. 14, 1957, to the late Roger Justice and Eleanor Whaley Justice.
He was raised in Bridgeville and was a graduate of Woodbridge HS Class of 1976. Bruce would fondly reminisce about being a football team captain, the friendships he made, and having the honor of being selected to represent Woodbridge HS in Delaware’s annual Blue-Gold game.
He volunteered as an EMT and fireman in the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department and competed with their muster team. Accolades included Sussex County Vol. Fire Chiefs Assoc. Fireman of the Year Award (1981), BVFD Ambulance Life Saving Award (7/2/1984), and BVFD Fire Rescue Award (12/13/1980).
He began working at a young age with a wide range of careers and continued his strong work ethic until his retirement in 2022. Of particular note, he worked at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital (TidalHealth Nanticoke), where he met his wife, Janice. He retired after 21 years as an alarm technician/fire inspector with Alarm Engineering, where he built genuine relationships with coworkers and clients.
After marrying, Bruce and Janice settled in Seaford, where they raised their three children. Bruce viewed this as one of his greatest responsibilities—supporting the kids in their varied activities, constantly passing on pieces of wisdom, quietly demonstrating his faith in God, and proudly displaying his love for his country. Post retirement, he happily transitioned to the role of full-time pop-pop and occasional election officer. Bruce and Janice enjoyed two adventure-filled years with their camper, or would travel by plane, train, or automobile to explore new places.
Bruce was known for being an avid outdoorsman, huntsman, and craftsman. He was especially known for his wit, good nature, and willingness to nap with his grandchildren. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He loved many sports, and being a lifelong Orioles and Cowboys fan taught him patience and disappointment.
Bruce is survived by his immediate family, who adored him: his loving wife of 40 years, Janice Kuehl Justice; children, Nicole Justice, Kevin Justice, Tyler Justice (Christine), and Natalie Justice Nixon (Rob); and beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth and Cora Justice and Robert Nixon. He also leaves behind brother, Christopher Justice; sisters, Patricia Roser and Susan Donovan; several nieces and nephews, as well as many cherished friends who shared his interests and hobbies. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Cheryl Justice Cain.
A celebration of life will be held on Sept. 20 at Crossroad Community Church, 20684 State Forest Rd, Georgetown. Visitation will be at 11 a.m., and the Celebration of Life will be at noon.
The family wishes to thank Greenwood Amb, SCEMS Paramedics, Trooper 2 flight crew, Christiana Medical Center, especially the nurses, doctors, and staff in the NCCU, for their expert care and compassion, as well as Pastor Eli and Pastor Jeff from Crossroad Community Church.
Bruce will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
