Brenda Joan Hardesty passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021 at TidalHealth hospital in Seaford after a brief illness, surrounded by family.

Joan was born Oct. 11, 1948 in Milford, the daughter of the late Wilson A. Records and Mary Jewell Records. Her husband of 50 years, Charles Stone Hardesty and a daughter, Amy Hardesty, also preceded her in death.

Joan attended Seaford High School. After working many years at Custom Home Fashions, she became an owner of Creative Kitchens and Floors Inc. in Seaford along with her husband Charles Hardesty, and Mike and Bonnie Griffith. Joan worked as the company’s sales consultant and primary bookkeeper. Joan loved cooking, spending time with family and friends, and caretaking for her two grandchildren.  

Joan leaves behind her son Aaron Cole Hardesty of Seaford. She is also survived by two grandchildren who she adored deeply, Casey Jackson Hardesty and Cameron Stone Hardesty; brother Mark Hardesty (Lauren) and their son Trevor of Seaford; nieces Lisa Piascinski (Randy) and their daughter Paige of Townsend, Melissa Jordan (Kyle) their daughter Cassie and son Matthew of Chesapeake City, Md., Ashley Nutting (Ben), their daughters Ava, Olivia, and son Owen of Connecticut; sister-in-laws Gloria Burton, and Marion Hardesty; good friends Jeannie Guthrie formerly of Seaford, and Roger Niblett (Nancy) both of Seaford.    

Memorial Services will be on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. at the Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N. Shipley St, Seaford.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
